NSK Included in the FTSE4Good Index, a Global Index for Corporate Socially Responsible Investment, 12 Years Running

Tokyo, Japan, April 25, 2013 - NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Norio Otsuka) today announced that it has been included in the FTSE4Good Index, a global index for socially responsible investment (SRI), for the twelfth straight year.

Socially responsible investment (SRI)

The practice of paying attention to SRI, such as environmental, social, and governance initiatives in addition to financial analyses when selecting companies to invest in, has spread worldwide. It is based on the understanding that initiatives related to corporate social responsibility (CSR) are important to long-term, stable growth.

FTSE4Good Index

The FTSE4Good Index is an index relating to SRI started in 2001 by the FTSE Group (UK).*1 FTSE selects the composition of the index from among listed companies worldwide, assessing their degree of achievement of criteria in six areas: environmental management, climate change mitigation, human rights and workers' rights, supply chain, corruption prevention, and corporate governance. The index was established independently by FTSE based on internationally recognized standards relating to corporate social responsibility.

*1 FTSE Group FTSE is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange Group and a world-leader in the provision of global index and analytical solutions. It calculates and manages over 200,000 indices across a wide range of asset classes including equities, fixed income and alternatives, on both a standard and custom basis. FTSE indices are used extensively by investors worldwide for investment analysis, performance measurement and benchmarking, asset allocation, portfolio hedging and the creation of a wide range of index derivatives, funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and other structured products.

The composition of the FTSE4Good Index is reviewed regularly twice per year. Twenty companies were added to index at the review in March 2013.
