Theme

NSK's theme for this year's show is ASHITA-MIRAI LAB (Future Research Lab) <PROJECT:E>. This theme represents our ambition to advance and contribute to electric vehicles, and vehicle component electrification. The “E" also stands for evolution and emotion. Simply put, NSK is working to evolve electric and other automotive components through our advanced technology as we strive to inspire emotion in individuals by creating innovations beyond imagination.

Come by NSK's booth for live and hands-on demos of our advanced technology, and experience our innovations and achievements firsthand.

Major Exhibits

CONCEPT FOR FLEX CORNER MODULE (world premier)

CONCEPT FOR FLEX CORNER MODULE

The Concept for Flex Corner Module was born from our R&D efforts toward creating new technologies for a future abundant in electric and autonomous vehicles. Three ground-breaking technologies have been incorporated within this concept:

  • Wheel Hub Motor Fit: A next-gen vehicle drive system that shifts the vehicle motor to inside the wheel
  • Parallel Link type Active Suspension: A suspension system with 5 independently moving actuators enabling optimal suspension geometry throughout
  • Electric Brake Booster: An essential component for braking in electric vehicles

This unique combination of technology covers all types of vehicle movement (driving, steering, and braking) and improves stability and comfort, thus giving rise to motion that feels close to the heart.

WHEEL HUB MOTOR FIT (world premier)

WHEEL HUB MOTOR FIT

This next-generation drive system developed by NSK provides driving power from within the wheel itself. There are many benefits to miniaturizing the motor and embedding it directly into the wheel such as higher efficiency, improved safety, and improved control (steering). NSK's technology features a two motor system, which can be controlled in tandem to change gears through a mini internal transmission mechanism. This second-gen version features a new design which is 30% thinner than the previous model, making it easier to incorporate.

TRACTION REDUCER

TRACTION REDUCER

The Traction Reducer conveys rotational force through a special oil which hardens for just an instant when compressed. This allows the drive to run quietly regardless of the torque or rotation speed. By pairing this ground breaking traction reducer with a high speed traction motor, electric drive systems can be even further reduced in size and weight. The smooth motion of the Traction Reducer also contributes to better fuel economy in electric vehicles.

Other Exhibits

NSK will also be exhibiting a wide variety of products and technologies that contribute to conserving the environment and improving safety for the customer. Other exhibits include Thin Thrust Needle Bearings For Planetary Gear Mechanisms, 6th-Generation Low-Friction Tapered Roller Bearings, High Performance Grease For Hub Unit Bearings, etc.

NSK will also be bringing back the popular “Bearing Assembly Hands-on" area from last time.

About NSK

In 1916, NSK became the first company in Japan to develop and manufacture bearings, and we have continued to create revolutionary technology and products ever since. During our over 100 years of business operations, we have actively contributed to worldwide industrial development and the preservation of the environment. Through the application of our Four Core Technologies of Tribology (friction control), Materials, Numerical Simulation, and Mechatronics, NSK manufactures a wide range of high-quality products such as automotive bearings, steering products, and transmission bearings. NSK aims to contribute to the future of the automobile by improving safety and reducing the impact vehicle use has on the environment.
