NSK-Warner K.K. Wins the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for Excellent Greening Commendation

NSK-Warner K.K. (NWC: Fukuroi, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan; President and CEO: Sakae Kuwashiro) today announced that it has won the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for Excellent Greening Commendation at the 34th National Green Factory Promotion Competition, hosted by the Japan Greenery Research and Development Center.

NWC is a joint venture between U.S.-based BorgWarner Inc. and NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Toshihiro Uchiyama), specializing in manufacturing parts for automobile automatic transmissions (AT) with an integrated system from R&D to production, boasting a high share in one-way clutches, and friction material related products. This company is actively involved in contributing to society through high-quality manufacturing that improves automobile efficiency.

This award was presented for a greenery initiative that focused on joining NWC with the natural tree groups and forest in the neighboring mountains and forests, and planting azaleas on the eastern and northern sides of the plant grounds as a place to relax for area residents and those who use the nearby athletic park. Other factors were also taken into consideration such as employee planting activities around the plant, volunteering in local initiatives, clean-ups, No Car Day at the plant, and enthusiastic training of employees through environmental conservation activities. NWC also actively contributes to local activities such as inviting local residents to the summer festival held at the plant.

The National Green Factory Promotion Competition actively drives greening activities at factories with an award for promoting environmental conservation efforts, with this marking the 34th competition. The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for Excellent Greening Commendation recognizes factories that show notable results in their efforts to maintain the environment in and outside factory grounds.
