Tokyo, Japan, April 17, 2009 - NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarter: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Seiichi Asaka) is pleased to announce its participation in “Auto Shanghai 2009”, to be held from April 20th at Shanghai New International Exhibition Center in China. Held biannually, Auto Shanghai is one of the world’s largest motor shows, featuring exhibits by automakers from Japan, Europe and North America.

NSK’s booth will feature a variety of moving exhibits under the theme “Cars and People: Energy-Efficiency, Safety and Comfort”. Visitors will be able to see NSK’s trademark lineup of automotive bearings, including hub unit bearings and needle bearings at work in real life applications, as well as its high-performance electric power steering (EPS) and automatic transmission (AT) systems.

Main Exhibits

HUB Unit Bearings These highly reliable and durable automotive wheel hub bearings feature a seal to prevent penetration by dirt and water. NSK has advanced its modulization technology to produce a compact, lightweight, low torque unit that includes a sensor.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) Switching from a hydraulic to an electric steering system reduces power loss and allows clean, fuel efficient performance. By exacting precise control over the motor, NSK has made driving safer and more comfortable.
Electrical Accessories NSK’s bearings for engine starters, air-conditioning systems, windshield wipers, and power steering assistance systems are designed to withstand extreme temperatures and vibrations, offering high durability and reliable performance.
CVT NSK's CVT systems offer smooth power transmission, quiet gear changes, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced CO2 emissions. The unit featured in NSK’s display is even more compact and low-cost than previous toroidal units, and can now be used in front-wheel drive as well as rear-wheel drive vehicles. This unit is employed in a new model presented by a Chinese brand.
Automatic Clutch Transmissions Components in automatic transmission systems such as friction plates and one-way clutches transmit engine power efficiently and allow smooth acceleration.

In China and worldwide, NSK continues to play a key role in the development of car industry by contributing to a safer, more comfortable, environmentally-friendly future.

With its world leading technologies, NSK is dedicated to challenging theforefront of friction control and energy loss minimization.
