NSK machine tool bearings take centre stage at EMO 2025

NSK will be showcasing a range of its cutting-edge bearing solutions as EMO returns to Hannover from 22-26 September.

NSK ROBUSTDYNA Angular Contact Ball Bearings for machine tool applications.

NSK ROBUSTDYNA Ultra High Speed High Load Capacity Angular Contact Ball Bearings

On display will be ROBUSTDYNA, the company’s ultra-high speed, high-load capacity angular contact ball bearings and SURSAVE (TSR), its bearing cage for angular contact ball bearings fitted to the main spindle of machine tools.

ROBUSTDYNA bearings, which are ideally suited for machine tool spindles, enable highly versatile machining by delivering excellent performance in both roughing and finishing operations. The use of larger bearing balls boosts maximum load capacity by up to 15% compared with the previous-generation solution and helps facilitate the machining of challenging materials such as titanium, Inconel and composites. With fatigue life (dynamic load rating) trebled, using ROBUSTDYNA supports both heavy cutting and high-speed performance.

A further benefit of ROBUSTDYNA is 15% higher impact resistance (static load rating), reducing the risk of bearing damage in the event of an unexpected collision. This contributes to the long-term, stable operation of the spindle, and helps avoid unplanned downtime. Furthermore, the use of NSK's proprietary SHX steel enables ultra high-speed performance of 3 million n  x dm for completing finish-machining operations in short cycle times.

NSK SURSAVE (TSR) Bearing Cage for Angular Contact Ball Bearings

Appearing alongside ROBUSTDYNA will be SURSAVE (TSR), NSK’s bearing cage for angular contact ball bearings fitted to the main spindle of machine tools. Bearings fitted with SURSAVE cages generate 20% less friction than conventional alternatives. This reduction in friction, which is achieved thanks to optimised clearance, guiding width and surface structure, leads to energy savings and higher accuracy by reducing the thermal expansion of the shaft. This has a big impact on the lubricating film, while grease life is also longer due to better sliding performance and lower operating temperatures.

In terms of linear products, visitors to the stand will be able to see NSK’s DH/DS long-life series, the company’s RA series roller guides and low-temperature ball screws, its HFT super-long life series, S-HTF range and DIN-standard high-speed, low-noise range.

They will also have the opportunity to see a live demonstration of the VCM-3 condition monitoring system, produced by Brüel & Kjær Vibro, a member of the NSK group and one of the leading worldwide suppliers of condition monitoring solutions for rotating machinery.
