NSK's Jakarta plant, located in an area with a diverse culture, values its ties with the local community. The plant is actively working to protect the environment and contribute to local society.
The bearing manufacturing process produces a variety of scrap metal in several forms. Metal waste produced at the plant, including grinding swarf and oil-soaked metal scraps, is separated for re-use in the cement industry as a raw material and an alternative fuel. In addition, used grinding stones are recycled into heat-resistant material used in furnaces.
In order to reduce the use of environmentally hazardous substances in the production process, the plant has switched the cooling fluid used in the grinding process to an alternative that does not contain.
Inverter used with grinding supply pump
As a countermeasure against global warming, the Jakarta plant has introduced grinding supply pumps and compressors with invertors to conserve electricity.
The plant has installed an absorption well and a Biopori Hole in line with Indonesian regulations. This apparatus protects underground water sources by absorbing rainwater into the soil.
