New Venture to Produce Bearings for
India’s Rapidly Growing Automobile Industry
NSK has established a joint venture with ABC Bearings Limited in India. The new company, named NSK-ABC Bearings Ltd., will manufacture automotive bearings to respond to increases of automotive production, driven by India’s rapidly growing economy. NSK owns a 75% share in the new company and ABC Bearings, 25%. A 7,000-m2 plant will be built on an 80,000-m2 site in an industrial park located on the outskirts of Chennai in southern India. The plant is scheduled to start operation from January 2008.
The new plant will manufacture products including hub unit bearings, ball bearings for transmissions, and ball bearings for magnetic clutches. NSK will implement sales expansion by responding to the local procurement needs of global Japanese and foreign capital companies, and by establishing a timely local product supply structure.
