NSK Ltd. enters into ball screw patent license agreement with Mori Seiki |
NSK Ltd. announced on September 1, 2004 that it has agreed to enter into a ball screw patent license agreement with Mori Seiki Co. Ltd. The agreement is for the patents and technical support related to the high-speed, low-noise ball screw series and is part of an overall strategy to expand sales of ball screws and to further improve the technology of this product segment.
Briefly, the outline of the agreement is as follows:

NSK Ltd.’s high-speed low-noise ball screws, which utilizes the internal ball ecirculation method for simpler, more compact ball nuts. Some of the features of this product are: |
- Quieter by 6dB
- High-speed operation of up to 180,000dN
- 30% smaller

| 2. License Agreement: |
|
Non-exclusive license agreement for the manufacture and sale of high-speed, low-noise ball screws for industrial machinery applications. |
| 3. Technical Support: |
|
NSK Ltd. will second technical support specialists. |
| 4. Parts Supply |
|
NSK Ltd. will supply parts related in the manufacture of high-speed, low noise ball screws. |
| 5. Period of Agreement |
|
The agreement is to remain in effect 10 years from the signing date. |
| 6. Others |
|
NSK Ltd. will be Mori Seiki Co. Ltd.’s primary supplier of ball screws. |
