  Strengthening Special Environment-Specific Business Enterprise
- Acquisition of Yasukawa Controls Vacuum -
related Products Business Division and Deployment of Business Enterprise

NSK, Ltd. ("NSK") announced it has acquired the Vacuum-related Products Business Division of Yasukawa Controls, Co., Ltd. (President: Masaki Komiyama), a bearing supplier specializing in the development, manufacture, and distribution of bearings for vacuum environments. This will solidify NSK's business infrastructure through production, marketing, and technology, and will reinforce its special environment business.

NSK has worked on special environment products forthe last 10 years. In September 1998, NSK developed the SPACEA™ Series for special environment bearings based on its unique technologies in materials, lubrication, and surface treatment. Since then, it has aggressively marketed the products to manufacturers of liquid crystals and semiconductors in clean-room, vacuum, and corrosion-resistant environments.

The SPACEA™ Series has been particularly popular for facilities in which the application of lubricants is difficult or impossible, such as manufacturing sites or liquid crystals, semiconductors, hard disks, vacuum equipment, food machines, and aerospace-related devices-areas in which NSK has experienced significant success. Rapid growth in these areas is expected in the future, with increasing opportunities to meet the need for bearings in more severe conditions. By leveraging the acquisition of the Vacuum-related Products Business Division of Yasukawa Controls, which has proven expertise in this field, NSK will form a new project team to integrate and solidify its business infrastructure undergirding production, marketing, and technology as well as expanding the existing product lineup and technological capacities. At the same time, NSK will establish an aggregate production system at NSK Kyushu, Co., Ltd., in Ukiha-gun, Fukuoka prefecture. These actions will ensure quick responsiveness to needs and demands with faster delivery, contributing to NSK's sales target of 4 billion yen in the next three years.
